I post this photo primarily to point out the contrast between the marble work and the modern work behind it, separated by only centuries.
That’s Vicki seated in the distance.
(Vicki was done with going uphill any more, so Dan trudged on up while Vicki sat in the cool, quiet garden.)
Not sure about this head, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be.
Apparently vandalism was a problem, even for the Medecis.
After a day of running around in the rain, we headed back to our apartment and crashed for a while. Dinner was at Osteria della Condotta. At a previous lunch, we were advised that it was wonderful, reasonable, and had ossubucco, a dish I have never had. So, of course, we made reservations. Dinner was indeed good, but more than that, the staff was welcoming and kind, and they offered helpful suggestions about what was good, what might be too much, etc. In the end, they gave us grappa and limoncello on the house. Our response? Make reservations for lunch the next day!
