The view from our balcony:
The lighting is not great, but this is the view toward the old town of Monterosso. In the distance, you can see three villages and just a peek of the fourth village that, along with Monterosso al mare, make up the Cinque Terre.
You can get more info about Monterosso al mare at https://it.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monterosso_al_Mare. Apparently, lots of people who made up the Italian Resistance during WWII came from the Cinque Terre.
Here is a view from our balcony of some of the 118 steps that we have to climb to get to our apartment. They are not wussy baby steps. These are serious. You can see the green gate where we enter, if you look really hard, next to the white whatever those are.
The woman from whom we are renting, who is probably my age (39) or older, takes these steps like a boss. AND she insisted on carrying my suitcase all of the way up. It was intimidating and a little embarrassing. She was like a mountain goat, Pam Walker!!!
