Today is Mother’s Day. I am grateful for the one who brought me into the world, but I cherish the one with whom I am seeing the world.
So today was for relaxation. Our first appointment was lunch. We took a 45-minute hike down the mountain to a restaurant and had a wonderful meal by the old mill stream. Maybe 2.5 hours. Then we called our host during dessert, and he came down in his car to pick us up. On the way back up, we planned dinner. How cool is that?
On the other hand, Bryan and Sara are working their butts off. They split their time between other jobs in Paris and Holland and who knows where else, and when they are here, they are not relaxing. Bryan’s always cutting the grass. On the side of the mountain, that means with a weed eater. He says it takes about 30 hours to cover the whole area. They also pulled, raked, and pruned, and then burned the brush. But they seem to love it - and the Italians on the mountain really like both of them.
For dinner, Bryan and Sara joined us and walked through the rain to their local Metato favorite. Wine, delicious Italian food, and Vieux Garçon, a kind of homemade macerated fruit liqueur concoction - all wonderful. We made it back around midnight.
